Tennessee softball adds transfer Zaida Puni from NCAA champion Oklahoma

Tennessee softball announced the addition of transfer Zaida Puni on Sunday. The infielder was one of the top recruits in the 2020 class and spent her first year with  2021 national championship Oklahoma.

Puni played in 15 games with the Sooners. She hit .357 (5-for-14) with three doubles, one home run, six runs scored and six RBIs.

Puni was ranked as the No. 25 player in the country by Extra Inning Softball and No. 79 by FloSoftball. She played with the OC Batbusters travel club and helped the team to the 2019 18U USA World Fast Pitch Championship.

"The training she received in the OC Batbusters organization under Mike Stith and his staff is invaluable," Lady Vols coach Karen Weekly said in a school release. "She is a great to addition to our program, and we're excited to coach her."
