Flash Flood Watch Issued For Fairfield County

The weather service has issued a flash flood watch for the region. Here's what you can expect.

SOUTHERN FAIRFIELD COUNTY, CT — The National Weather Service has issued a flash flood watch for coastal sections of Fairfield County from Thursday afternoon through Friday morning.

"A period of heavy rainfall is likely with the passage of a cold front Thursday afternoon into Friday morning," the weather service said. "A widespread 1-2 inches with locally higher amounts are possible. The rainfall combined with wet antecedent conditions will result in flash flooding."

This Afternoon: Scattered showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 78. Southeast wind around 11 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40%.

Tonight: A 40 percent chance of showers, mainly after 2am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 69. Southeast wind around 11 mph.

Thursday: A chance of showers and thunderstorms, then showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm after 2pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 78. Southeast wind 13 to 15 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

Thursday Night: Showers and possibly a thunderstorm. Some of the storms could produce heavy rainfall. Low around 68. Southeast wind around 14 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.

Friday: Showers and possibly a thunderstorm before 2pm, then a chance of showers. Some of the storms could produce heavy rainfall. High near 73. South wind 8 to 11 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New rainfall amounts between a half and three quarters of an inch possible.
