Local historian and Humboldt County Historical Collections archivist Jim Garrison will present “Humboldt’s Lost Treasures” as part of the Humboldt County Historical Society’s Southern Humboldt lecture series on Saturday at 1 p.m., at the Redway Elementary School, 344 Humboldt Avenue in Redway. Admission is free, and everyone is invited.

Humboldt County has a long history of losing, selling and/or demolishing historic resources. This talk will offer a whirlwind tour of the old courthouse, the Stump House and other pieces of history lost around the county, and as well as some resources that might still be saved.

A local historian, Garrison grew up in Rio Dell and earned a degree in history in 2014 from Humboldt State University, where he focused his research on the settlement period of Humboldt County. Garrison has authored a book, “Images of America: Scotia and Rio Dell,” published by Arcadia Press, and has written several articles on local history for the Humboldt Historian.
