Less than 24 hours after the Oregon Ducks football program extended an offer to Washington Huskies pledge Anthony Jones he’s back on the open market.

On Friday afternoon, the 6-foot-5, 242-pound athlete, out of Liberty High School (Las Vegas, Nevada), announced his decommitment from Washington:

Jones, a 247Sports three-star prospect who projects at either edge-rusher or tight end at the collegiate level, first committed to Washington in December, following a weekend visit to Seattle the month prior.

Since then, however, his recruitment has picked up and he’s been hearing from several Power 5 conference program, including Oregon, who extended an offer this week.

“I will definitely be talking to them and building relationships, and then eventually taking a visit out there once the dead period is over,” he said.

It remains early in the 2022 recruiting cycle, but Oregon is already off to a strong start.

The Ducks have four commitments, all of whom are four-star prospects - Oregon linebacker Emar’rion Winston (Central Catholic High School), Oklahoma tight end Andre Dollar, Texas safety Landon Hullaby and California defensive end Gracen Halton.

For three consecutive years, Oregon has finished atop the Pac-12 Conference recruiting rankings.

To make it a four-peat, they’ll need to be a disruptive force nationally and along the West Coast.

After Friday’s decommitment, it’s safe to say Washington is feeling that disruption.
