A Central Florida family started the new year without a home after a fire destroyed their house on Cathy Ann Street, according to Orange County Fire Rescue.

Two adults and two children, along with two dogs, safely fled the blaze and were not injured, according to officials.

The fire started at about 4:10 a.m. in a car parked in the garage and then spread into the home, officials said. The home is in a neighborhood just west of North Apopka Vineland Road near Clarcona.

The Red Cross is helping the family. State fire investigators are looking into the fire to determine a cause.
