Penick Penick, James Orr II, Coconut Creek, FL and Bangor, ME, 76, passed away Sunday, June 8, 2003 after a brave battle with cancer. He was born in Ft. Worth, TX, April 3, 1927, the son of James Sr. and Ethel (Church) Penick. Jim graduated from the University of Miami, and went on to proudly serve in the US Army in the Korean War. Later he became a successful and respected real estate developer in Florida and New England. Jim will be remembered to all who loved him as a kind, gentle man who treasured life. He had a way of finding the silver lining in every cloud, with his refreshing optimistic and sociable attitude. He was especially fond of animals, and showed selfless devotion to lucky cats, dogs, and horses. His parents and his sister, Joan McLay, predeceased Jim. He is survived by sons Brian Penick and wife Ana of Coral Springs, FL, and Kevin Baker of Glenburn, ME. His granddaughter, Brian and Ana’s daughter Tara Penick will also miss him. He is also survived by special “daughter” Kerry (Sweet) Pratt, and her husband David of Clifton, ME, cousin Steve Gray of NYC, and many close friends in Florida and Maine. Of special note is Joy Fortunato, who was Jim’s pal during his final years. His final resting place will be with his family in Clinton, OK. Doug and his close friend, Steve Ross, were returning from a mission trip to the Bahamas when they were involved in a mid-air collision. Doug, the son of the late Mr. Richard and Mrs. Amelia K. Bauer, was born February 26, 1955 in Phoenixville, Pennsylvania. He grew up in Newark, Delaware and moved to Florida when he was sixteen. He attended University of Miami and National Chiropractic College in Lombard, Illinois. He loved the Lord and his family dearly. He is survived by his wife Beverly, children Brittany and Jordan, and one brother Richard Bauer of Hampton, New Hampshire. Ross Ross, Stephen James, 46, went to be with the Lord on June 17, 2003, following a mid-air collision over Deerfield Beach, when the small plane he was piloting was returning from delivering supplies to an orphanage in the Bahamas. Steve Ross was born in Allentown, PA, and grew up in Wheaton, IL. He graduated from Moody Bible Institute (1979), received his pilot’s license from Moody Aviation in Elizabethton, TN, graduated from Wheaton College (1982) in Illinois, and received his Masters in Ministry from The Moody Graduate school in 1998. Steve worked for Youth for Christ in suburban Chicago from 1981 through 1984, when he moved to Florida to serve as youth pastor of Boca Raton Community Church. He had a passion for missions, which led him to Peru where he ministered to and equipped pastors all along the Ucayali River with the South America Mission for eight years. Steve was known for his love for people and his Lord. He is survived by Julie, his wife of 22 years; children Ashley, Jorden, Benjamin, and McKenzie; parents Art and Ruth Ross of Wheaton, IL: and brothers Larry Ross of Carrollton, TX and David Ross of Wheaton, IL.
