What Princess Diana’s fave perfume was and can you still buy it today?

Princess Diana made sure to dab on a little perfume every time she did a royal engagement and she really liked the smell of orange blossom, gardenia, peaches, and amber.

“She always, always, always wore fragrance,” her former makeup artist Mary Greenwell told ABC News, adding, “It’s kind of the final touch of beauty, walking out smelling divine and chic and individual.”

In the book A Royal Duty, Diana’s former butler Paul Burrell revealed that her favorite perfume was Hermès 24 Faubourg. According to Hermès’ in-house perfumer Jean-Claude Ellena, the scent is “an explosion of white flowers, enveloping warmth, [and] captivating sensuality.” You can still purchase a bottle today online or in department stores. It retails for under $200.

The fragrance the princess loved to wear wasn’t released until 1995, two years before her death. Prior to that, Diana wore Quelques Fleurs by Houbigant Paris for special occasions including her wedding day. Its top notes are orange blossom, green notes, tarragon, bergamot, lemon and citruses. The middle notes are carnation, tuberose, orchid, lilac, orris root, jasmine, heliotrope, ylang-ylang, lily-of-the-valley, rose, violet and iris. And the base notes are sandalwood, tonka bean, amber, musk, civet, oakmoss, honey and vanilla. A bottle costs between $105 and $200.

Princess Diana Had to Stop Wearing This Popular Brand Because of Prince Charles and Camilla’s Affair

As for what perfumes other royal ladies wear, Diana’s son’s wives each have their favorites.

Marie Claire noted that Kate is a big fan of White Gardenia Petals by Illuminum. In 2011, Clarance House revealed that the duchess wore it when she married Prince William and it’s been hard to find ever since. The brand did, however, create a similar scent called Rose Oud which is sold online.

Kate’s sister-in-law, Meghan, previously told The Express that her signature scents are “Jo Malone Wild Bluebell for the day and Bvlgari Blv Ii for night.” The duchess has also been known to wear Wood Sage & Sea Salt by Jo Malone.

And what about their grandmother-in-law? Well, like Meghan, she has more than one favorite scent. The Telegraph reported that one of Queen Elizabeth’s preferred fragrances is White Rose by the British beauty company Floris. Another brand she loves is Guerlain L’Heure Bleue, which was created by Jacques Guerlain in 1912. The Duchess of Cambridge has also worn the latter scent in the past.
