Kewaunee County's COVID-19 total jumped by nearly 20 since Aug. 4, while Door County counted only a few more cases.

As of Wednesday morning, Kewaunee County reported 132 positive cases, up from 113 a week prior. Door County surpassed 100 cases in the past week, rising from 98 to 106. A couple days in the past week ended with in no new cases reported in Door County.

Public health officials report positive cases cumulatively, so the totals include people who recovered. Both Door and Kewaunee are considered high activity areas for COVID-19 along with the vast majority of Wisconsin counties by the state Department of Health Services.

Door County reported five recoveries just on Tuesday; 95 locals in total have recovered while eight remain in isolation. Kewanuee County listed 21 active cases and 109 recoveries on Wednesday.

Wisconsin exceeded 1,000 COVID-related deaths on Tuesday. Luckily, both Door and Kewaunee counties have reported less than five deaths each. Three Door County residents died while sick with the virus, but the most recent passed away in early May. The second person in Kewaunee County to die while battling COVID-19 passed on July 28.

Negative case totals continue to be the largest number recorded by both counties. Kewaunee County has tallied 3,101 negative tests, while Door County is approaching 5,000.

Door County awaits results for 215 tests as of Wednesday, and Kewaunee has 82 pending tests.
