Christoval debuts at No. 9 in state football rankings

Christoval High School jumped into the Texas Football rankings heading into Week 6 of the 2020 season.

The Cougars (4-1) debuted at No. 9 in the Class 2A Division II rankings as provided by Texas Football magazine and TexasFootball.com.

They are coming off a 49-19 win over Goldthwaite, a 2A Division I school, on Friday.

Wall’s second loss finally caught up with the Hawks in the rankings, as they moved down to the No. 9 spot in 3A DI.

Wall fell to Midland Christian 41-6 on the road on Friday. The 3-2 Hawks also had a loss to San Antonio Cornerstone earlier in the season but were ranked No. 3 in the state last week.

Llano debuted at the No. 10 spot in the same poll after beating Ballinger 34-0 Friday.

San Saba, which was idle on Friday after a cancellation by Dublin, remained at No. 6 in the 2A DI poll.

Sterling City remained at No. 2 in the 1A DI list, behind district mate Westbrook. The Eagles (5-0) beat Happy 50-42 last week. Happy actually moved up to No. 10 following its impressive showing against Sterling City.

Rankin remained at No. 4 after its 60-14 win over Calvert.

Richland Springs remained at No. 2 in 1A DII following a 61-16 win over Fort Worth Covenant Classical.
