Lake Nebagamon man charged with fourth OWI

A man was arrested for a fourth offense of driving under the influence in Douglas County on Tuesday.

Gregory F. Wermter, 59, of Lake Nebagamon was arrested for operating a motor vehicle under the influence.

A Wisconsin state trooper was monitoring speed around 5 p.m. on U.S. Highway 53 in Bennett Township.

The vehicle Wermter was driving was clocked at 94 mph. The trooper made contact with Wermter and reported he noticed indications of alcohol consumption. Wermter was given a standardized field sobriety test. Shortly after, he was placed under arrest and charged with his fourth OWI.

A blood sample was taken, and Wermter was taken to the Douglas County Jail. He also is charged with possessing open intoxicants in a motor vehicle and speeding.
