JACKSBORO (WATE) – Many people in a developed country, like the United States, probably accept every kid having a bed as a given. But that’s actually not the case.

Today, at United Cumberland Bank in Jacksboro, several people decided to do something about that. They spent the afternoon building bunk beds for kids who’d otherwise be sleeping on couches, blankets or even floors.

A non-profit organization called ‘Sleep In Heavenly Peace’ organized this build. This effort will help make sure these beds will get to kids who need them.

“We’ve had a situation where a mother needed a bed to get her child back out of state custody and by us providing that bed she was able to get the child back. So, that kind of thing is a lot of what we do as well,” said Bill Thompson, President of the Knoxville chapter of ‘Sleep In Heavenly Peace.’

The organization recently opened up the Knoxville chapter.
