Restaurants and bars throughout the South Bay accommodate diners while also meeting state and LA County Health Department mandates for reducing risks associated with the coronavirus.  After more than a year of restrictions, new rules allow these businesses to reopen almost fully, without capacity limits, but with masks required. For the most current information, refer to the venues’ websites and social media spaces.

HERE’S WHAT’S NEW

Panda Express will begin testing a vegetarian version of its signature orange chicken on July 26 at 10 restaurants in Los Angeles and Orange counties. According to a news release from the chain, the dish features crispy pieces of the plant-based ingredient Beyond Chicken. Panda Express’s Manhattan Beach store at 125 S. Sepulveda Blvd. is among the test locations.

Delivery from Captain Kidd’s

Pitfire Pizza launches summer menu

A new summer menu at Pitfire Pizza, Manhattan Beach, features two flavorful, colorful pizzas, an avocado-topped gazpacho, three different veggie dishes — such as dressed avocado Yukon Gold potato salad — along with a house-made focaccia. Strand House revamped and revitalized

Gearing up for its 10th anniversary in August, The Strand House, 117 Manhattan Beach Blvd. in Manhattan Beach, announced the addition of renowned chef Craig Hopson as its executive chef. In addition to a revitalized menu, the restaurant has a fresh, new look resulting from a comprehensive renovation. Guests also can now enjoy live music on Thursday nights from 7 to 10 p.m. A number of anniversary events are in the works, starting with a 10-day, 10-item tasting menu for $110 during August 2-12. The menu will feature an amuse trio followed by two appetizers, a fish course and a meat course as well as a dessert trio. For an additional $50, Add a wine pairing. Counter seating is back at Uncle Bill’s

Stop into Uncle Bill’s Pancake House for breakfast any time during the restaurant’s hours of 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. — or try one of its lunch offerings. Hi-Fi Espresso has new hours

Hi-Fi Espresso is now open until 4 p.m. at its three locations. Visit the store for coffee, other drinks, baked goods and more. Eddie V’s for fine dining–Eddie V’s, a dining destination known for seafood, hand carved steaks and imaginative cocktails opened at 2101 Rosecrans Ave. in El Segundo. The restaurant offers an ever-changing array of seasonal seafood flown in daily from around the world.
