Contra Costa County Coronavirus Cases Pass 200

CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, CA — Confirmed coronavirus cases in Contra Costa County hit 222 on Tuesday, Contra Costa Health Services reports. That's an increase of 35 over Monday. Deaths held steady at 3.

Contra Costa County joined the counties of Alameda, Marin, San Francisco, San Mateo, and Santa Clara, as well as the City of Berkeley Health Department, in extending the length of the stay-at-home order, as well as expanding it. New provisions include:

  • Prohibiting the use of playgrounds, dog parks, public picnic areas, and similar recreational areas
  • Closure of all golf courses, tennis and basketball courts, pools, and rock walls
  • Most construction—residential and commercial—is prohibited

A/C Transit has modified service because of declining ridership caused by the coronavirus stay-at-home order. The modified service is similar to the Sunday schedule. The changes went into effect on Tuesday.
