Accounting student receives scholarship from national accounting board

A Collat School of Business student has been recognized as a PCAOB Scholar.

Tinker2LaKeisa TinkerLaKeisa Tinker, an accounting student in the University of Alabama at Birmingham Collat School of Business, is one of 207 students to receive a $10,000 scholarship for the 2019-2020 academic school year from the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board.

A senior from Sawyerville, Alabama, Tinker is pursuing her bachelor’s degree in accounting with a future career in public and forensic accounting in mind.

PCAOB Scholars are nominated by their educational institutions. Participating educational institutions select their nominees from students enrolled in their accounting degree programs. The PCAOB, a nonprofit corporation that oversees auditors of issuers and broker-dealers, has awarded academic scholarships to undergraduate and graduate accounting students since 2011.
