KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) – East Tennessee businesses teamed up with Knoxville Habitat for Humanity to build playhouses for three Knoxville military families on Thursday.

There were over 30 volunteers from Realty Trust and University Radiology on hand for the build.

It’s part of the Habitat for Heroes program, which Habitat for Humanity launched in 2015 to help veterans and their families achieve housing.

The playhouses are a way to fundraise and share information about the organization.

“This is a way that corporate partners, groups and churches can partner with Knoxville Habitat for Humanity. They can make a donation to participate and then at the end of the day, we’re able to provide a playhouse to a child,” said Lacey Mellott with Habitat for Humanity.

The families were presented with their new playhouses in a dedication ceremony.
