Give us your money and we’ll make several crawl inside you

The Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) in the UK and the National Science Foundation (NSF) in the USA are funding research for developing a tiny prototype robot that functions like a living creature.

The little thing is called a “Cyberplasm” and will combine advanced microelectronics with latest research in biomimicry.

The natural organism that has inspired the basic characteristics of the new project is the sea lamprey that has a very primitive nervous system, which is easier to mimic than more sophisticated nervous systems.

The first prototype will measure less than 1 centimeter in length and there is hope that future versions will be smaller than 1 milimeter and that nano scale versions will soon follow.

They’re promising that this tech will not be used against humans nor will it be ever let out of control. If we are to believe these guys, we wonder where do UK and US tax payers stand for this. Did anybody ask them what they feel about this?

These scientists are basically saying that “We can’t cure cancer nor baldness, but after developing the seedless water melon, we’ll spend your money to build a robot to crawl into you and.. nothing right now, but we’re sure it will be cool to have it.”
