Very strong winds predicted on Saturday in eastern Idaho

IDAHO FALLS — Thursday was a very windy day in eastern Idaho, but it looks like this weekend will be even windier.
The National Weather Service has issued a high wind warning for the following communities and their surrounding areas: Idaho Falls, Rexburg, Rigby, St. Anthony, Mud Lake, Atomic City, Craters of the Moon National Monument and parts of the Idaho National Laboratory.
Meteorologists predict southwestern winds of 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 60 mph between 11 a.m. and 10 p.m. Saturday.
Things will be a bit better south of Idaho Falls. A lesser wind advisory has been issued for the following cities and their surrounding areas: Pocatello, Chubbuck, Fort Hall, Blackfoot, Aberdeen, Shoshone, Carey, Burley, American Falls, Shelley, Firth, Rupert, Heyburn and Oakley.
The advisory shows predicted winds of 30 to 40 mph with gusts of 50 mph predicted between the same time Saturday.

The wind will cause heavy blowing dust, and road closures are very likely, as is damage to trees, power lines and homes.
Strong, gusty crosswinds will make driving difficult, especially for high-profile vehicles. Motorists are encouraged to drive safely. For information about road closures visit 511 Idaho.
