Are pearls the new diamonds?

by Keydra Manns

They say diamonds are a girl’s best friend, but according to Teen Vogue, pearls are getting all the shine this spring. Diamonds will probably always be a thing and let’s be honest nothing says “I do” like a shiny rock. But experts predict an organic gem will be getting all the praise. Pearls and seashells were seen at fashion week and even your favorite celebs have been seen rocking the trend. Are pearls the new diamonds?

According to Teen Vogue, pearls are versatile and look great when paired with gold.

This time around, the best ways to wear pearls are combined with the seashell trend, if you don’t want to choose one over the other, paired with dainty gold hoops, in your hair with statement barrettes, and around your neck, as loose or tight as you want them. Adeam’s spring 2019 collection is a great source of inspiration, as well as the Hadid sisters walking Oscar de la Renta’s spring 2019 collection. Regardless of which style you opt for, you know you’ll wear the timeless accessory for seasons and seasons to come.

But according to Sarine, people will always want diamonds.

Another reason why people want diamonds is also one of the most simple: they are beautiful. Clear, sparkly and filled with light, their brilliance is unmatched among other gems. And, with the prevalence of media in today’s generation, advertising also plays a huge role in the desire for a diamond. After all, who wouldn’t want to invest in something that lasts “forever”?
