A man was shot and killed Sunday after firing a handgun at an Iowa state trooper, according to a news release from the Iowa Department of Public Safety.The trooper responded to the 2300 block of Carter Avenue in rural Moorland, Iowa, where he saw a man and a woman involved in a dispute.The man then pointed and fired a handgun at the trooper, at which point the trooper and the man exchanged several rounds before the man was shot and killed.The trooper was uninjured in the shooting.An initial investigation revealed that the man had fired several shots at his own vehicle prior to the trooper's arrival, the release said.The name of the deceased man is being withheld pending notification of relatives.The incident is under investigation.
