Acne Studios takes a futuristic approach to Fall/Winter 2020 as they explore Artificial Intelligence as a source of inspiration.

For Fall/Winter 2020, Acne Studios switches up their direction and looks to our ever-evolving digital future, working alongside generative artist Robbie Barrat. The creative partnership utilised the artists use of algorithms, feeding the system thousands of classic Acne looks to develop renderings of looks that didn't exist. Using these renders as design foundations, the collection was developed to have a distinctly bold aesthetic, with perforations and honeycomb structures references glitches within the rendered images. Several details and finishes, such as the lack of fastening on polo shirts and distorted snakeskin print, were achieved due to the machines lack of understanding of several elements within the pre-existing looks. As expected, FW20 delivers a strong offering of tailored outerwear in a range of essential, muted seasonal colours.

Speaking on the collection's AI direction, Creative Director of Acne Studios, Jonny Johansson said: “It is amazing to see that Artificial Intelligence can be freeing as a creative tool. I wanted the collection to be alive with new possibilities for how we wear clothes, while also being grounded in strange
reality.”
