Men donned women’s shoes today and walked from Clinton Square to Armory Square in downtown Syracuse. The walk kicked off Vera House’s annual 10-day White Ribbon campaign, which seeks to increase awareness about sexual and domestic violence and raise money for Vera House. The organization says stepping outside of rigid gender roles can be a first step in acknowledging how sexism can contribute to domestic and sexual violence. In Armory Square the men tied white ribbons around trees and street lamps in recognition of the campaign.
