BENNINGTON COUNTY, V.T. (WRGB) - Rescue crews from Vermont and New York joined forces to rescue a hiker on the Long Trail in Bennington County, Vermont.

The heroic save was made on Tuesday. That afternoon it was reported that a 41-year-old man, identified as Alden Summers Jones of Bennington, had suffered a medical event while hiking on the Long Trail in a remote location between Arlington and Sunderland. Due to the location, the Vermont State Police requested assistance from the New York State Police Aviation Unit in Albany. A helicopter, members of the NYSP and New York State Forest Rangers were dispatched.

New York based crews arrived around 7:00 p.m. then the save was made. A ranger lowered from the helicopter and hoisted Jones out of the woods and to a waiting ambulance. Deerfield Valley Rescue transported the man to the hospital in Bennington, where he was treated and later transported to Albany Medical Center.
