RiverStone Health, Yellowstone County’s public health department, reports another Yellowstone County resident has died due to COVID-19 related illness.
On Saturday, September 12, a man in his 70s passed away at a hospital in Yellowstone County due to COVID-19 related illness.
His death is reflected on the Monday, September 14 state COVID-19 tracking map.
To protect the privacy of the deceased and his family, RiverStone Health will not release further information.
“There is nothing that I can say that will erase the sadness and grief that the deceased’s family and friends are experiencing. My heart goes out to them,” said John Felton, Yellowstone County Health Officer and President and CEO of RiverStone Health.
“Nearly halfway through September, Yellowstone County has lost a resident every day and a half – eight people – to COVID-19. It is distressing to see images in the local media of people gathering close together not wearing masks. Until there is a safe and effective vaccine, it is up to each one of us to prevent more illness and death by wearing masks, staying at least 6 feet away from others, washing our hands and staying home when we don’t feel well,” said Felton.
To date, 2,518 Yellowstone County residents have been infected with COVID-19 and 52 have died
Big Horn County reported two additional deaths on Sunday.
Yellowstone County added the highest number of new cases with 27. Silver Bow followed with 22 new cases, and Big Horn County reported nine new cases.
Cascade, Park and Musselshell counties each added four new cases. The remaining new cases were spread across nine Montana counties.
