Rally in Concord honors life of Justice Ginsburg

Staff reports
The Rally for Ruth with Concord Indivisible was held at Concord First Parish Church on Sept. 20.

Massachusetts residents flocked to Concord on Sept. 20 to celebrate the life and legacy of Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, who died Sept. 18 at the age of 87.

Ginsburg was known for the work she did for women and others who had been denied equal rights for generations.

"Take and pause for a moment, and grieve the loss of this great, great human being," said Concord resident Cory Atkins told Wicked Local news partner WCVB.

Many at the vigil and rally also took the opportunity to call for action to vote in the 2020 presidential election and demand that Ginsburg's replacement in the Supreme Court is not confirmed until after Nov. 3.

"We wanted to come out here and just make sure that our voices were heard," said Concord resident Bart Feldman. "(I'm) really worried about what's going to happen before the election."

"We don't have a do-over on this. Democracy and humanity is on the line, and unless ordinary people are taking action, we might lose," said Concord resident Kate Kavanagh.

According to WCVB, several elected officials were also in Concord, and many took the opportunity to say that "RBG" would want people to get out and vote.
