Job & Family Services clients can get benefits to replace food lost due to storm

NEW PHILADELPHIA — Tuscarawas County Job & Family Services clients who lost food due to power loss caused by recent storms may apply for food replacement benefits.

They have 10 days to apply from the date they lost power.

Any food assistance recipient may receive replacement benefits to buy or replace food if their power was out four or more hours, and food purchased with food assistance benefits was destroyed due to loss of power.

The recipient must complete an application for replacement benefits (form JFS 07222) and provide information regarding the time/date they suffered loss of power. A screen shot of the utility website showing outage time is sufficient.

Replacement is based on actual amount of food lost, and cannot exceed client’s monthly allotment.

Contact Job & Family Services at 330-339-7791 with any questions.
