Robot Brothel Could Hinge On Houston City Council Vote

HOUSTON, TX — A key vote by the Houston City Council on Wednesday could halt the plans of a Canadian developer to bring a robot brothel to the Bayou City. The City Council will consider making changes to its sexually oriented business ordinance that regulates spas, massage parlors, adult bookstores, arcades, and strip clubs, to include brothels or other sexually oriented businesses that utilizes sex robots.

Toronto-based KinkySdolls announced plans recently to expand their sex robot trade to the US, and bring the first sex robot brothel to Houston.

Yuval Graviel, who operates KinkSdolls, said previously he’d wait for council approval. However, last week code enforcement officers who noticed new construction on Richmond Avenue near the Galleria learned Garviel was building his brothel without the proper permits and ordered a halt to construction.

A change to the ordinance could impose heavy restrictions that would likely determine where Graviel could set up shop if that is allowed, as well as impose strict regulations that would prevent anyone from having sexual relations with a robot on the premises.

The proposed robot brothel, which would be addressed in Chap. 28 that addresses Miscellaneous Offenses and Provisions of the city’s code of ordinances would also be regulated in their permitting, outdoor signage, who could use their services, and their hours of operation.

In short, the brothel would only be allowed to sell their robotic sex toys, which cost between $2,500 and $10,000 each, but would prohibit rentals of the robots to patrons on an hourly basis.
