MONROE TWP., Mich. (WXYZ) — Rescue crews are searching for 51-year-old Taylor, Michigan resident after a 16-foot fishing boat flipped over on Lake Erie near Bolles Harbor in Monroe Township Sunday.

Another boater, a 28-year-old resident from Monroe, was rescued from the water and taken to a local hospital and is being treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

According to the Monroe County Sheriff's Office, it was around 7:45 a.m. when deputies were dispatched to Bolles Harbor to check for two people on a fishing boat that were about a mile off shore. When deputies arrived they were initially unable to find the fishing boat.

After the 28-year-old boater was rescued, crews located the 16-foot boat about a mile off shore and tangled in a fishing net, according to a news release.

It's unclear if the missing boater was wearing a life jacket when the boat tipped over.
