Towson Cinemark To Open Friday

TOWSON, MD — The Towson Cinemark will reopen Friday, Sept. 11. Tickets will be $5 for adults and $3 for children and seniors, deals Cinemark officials call "comeback prices."

Cinemark has been closed since March due to the coronavirus pandemic.

When it reopens, the theater will have new safety protocols in place to protect public health.

Here are some of the new measures designed to prevent the spread of the coronavirus:

  • Auditoriums will be disinfected each morning and between shows, using products that the Environmental Protection Agency has said eliminate the coronavirus.

  • Show times will be staggered in theaters to allow for cleaning and distancing.

  • High-touch areas will be disinfected every 30 minutes.

  • Outside air will flow into theaters through supply fans.

  • Adjacent seats will be blocked when people buy tickets. Customers are encouraged to buy their tickets online.

  • Face masks are required in the theater and may only be taken off for eating and drinking in the auditorium.

  • Seat wipes and hand sanitizer will be available.

  • A Chief Clean and Safety Monitor will oversee safety, physical distancing, cleanliness and sanitization.

Those who want a more controlled experience can spend a minimum of $99 for a watch party with up to 20 people in a private theater.

Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan allowed for the reopening of movie theaters as of Friday, Sept. 4, as he said the state was ready to move into stage three of its recovery roadmap.

Cinemark Towson and XD will reopen Friday, Sept. 11, at 111 East Joppa Road, Towson MD 21286.
