I-81 reopens in Lebanon County after fatal crash

The northbound lanes of Interstate 81 are now open in Lebanon County following a two vehicle crash that left one man dead. The northbound lanes had been closed near Fisher Avenue.Police said Daniel Kromer of Tresckow, Pa. attempted evasive action to avoid hitting Cheryl Anderson of Dillsburg, Pa. Anderson had performed a left turn into an emergency vehicle crossover in the road median, according to police. Police said Kromer swerved off the roadway and into a tree. Kromer sustained moderate injuries from the crash. His passenger Jonathan Meier, 30, of Oneida, Pa. was ejected from the vehicle and died.After traveling through the median, Kromer traveled down southbound Interstate 81 before returning, according to police. The roadway was closed for approximately two hours while police investigated the scene. This caused slow-moving traffic for several miles until it was reopened.State police are looking for anyone who was in the area at the time for more information. They can be reached at 717-865-2194.
