APPLETON, Wis. (WFRV) Chief Todd Thomas with the Appleton Police Department says that all the witnesses involved with the Johnston Street homicide case in September that left 47-year-old Bobby Higgs dead, have been identified.

“We identified them all, we interviewed them all,” Thomas said during his Community Update on Local 5 This Morning. “Right now we’re at a point where we’re putting together all the statements, putting together the physical evidence. It’s a complex case with a lot of different people involved. It’s a case that’s going to take some time to come to a conclusion.”

Thomas added that social media played a factor.

“It was about 30 pictures of what we would consider material witnesses to this case. It is unusual to put witness pictures out there,” Thomas said. “We had learned that the people whose pictures we put out there, all knew that a shooting had occurred.

“Just because of the location where Mr. Higgs’ body was, we knew that these people either walked around or walked over Mr. Higgs and knew that he had been shot and was in critical condition.”

Thomas went on to say that Higgs laid on the ground for about 45 minutes until a passerby, unrelated to the party that was happening, found him and called authorities.

“None of them called us, not even an anonymous 911 call,” Thomas said. “So we had no issues putting out their pictures to try to get them identified.”

Local 5 will update this story as more information becomes available.
