Spiro boys edge rival Poteau in LeFlore County Tournament quarterfinals

The Spiro Bulldogs held off their LeFlore County and NOAA Conference rival Poteau on Tuesday night.

Spiro held on for a 49-48 win in the quarterfinals of the LeFlore County Tournament, held on the Bulldogs' home court.

The Bulldogs (7-4), who have now won six of their last seven ballgames, will move on to face top-seeded Howe at 7 p.m. Friday in the LCT semifinals, which will be held at Howe.

Braden Riggs scored 11 of his game-high 16 points in the second half for Spiro, which led 23-22 at halftime before extending it to 39-30 through three quarters. Mekhi Roberson and Braxton Peterson each had eight points.

Poteau got 12 points from Jagger Dill and 10 from Wyatt Gamble, including eight in the final quarter.

Heavener 52, Poteau 49

GIRLS - Three Lady Wolves reached double figures as Heavener advanced, winning Tuesday's quarterfinal.

Morgan Smith scored 21 points for the Lady Wolves, 14 in the opening half. She also hit three 3-pointers.

Also for Heavener, which will play at Pocola on Thursday, Kinlee Free had 13 points and two 3s, and Milaya Riddley added 12 points.

Mattison Dodson scored 11 for the Lady Pirates.

Northside 57, Cabot 44

GIRLS - The Lady Bears moved to 5-0 in 6A-Central play after winning Tuesday in a game that was moved to Kaundart-Grizzly Fieldhouse.

Jersey Wolfenbarger scored 14 of Northside's 19 first-quarter points as the Lady Bears (15-1, 5-0) led 19-7 after one and 33-17 at halftime. Wolfenbarger finished with 21 points and went 10-for-17 from the field. She also had 13 rebounds, recording four assists, four steals and two blocks.

Tracey Bershers also had 14 points in the win, and made two first-half 3-pointers.

Northside 63, Cabot 48

BOYS - A big night from senior Jacob Joe propelled the Grizzlies to their third straight win in 6A-Central play.

Joe had 27 points on 10-for-17 shooting. He also went 6-for-9 from 3-point range in the win for Northside (7-6, 3-2).

Dae'Marion Savoy added 11 points and had five steals. Northside led 13-8 after one quarter and 29-18 at halftime.

Greenwood 79, Siloam Springs 38

GIRLS - Five Lady Bulldogs reached double figures as they remained undefeated in 5A-West play after Tuesday's road won.

Greenwood (12-3, 3-0), which made 15 3-pointers and led 53-12 at halftime, was led by Kinley Fisher's 15 points. Anna Trusty added 12 points, and Shea Goodwin, Abby Summitt and Megan Gray each finished with 11 points.

Greenwood 53, Siloam Springs 50

BOYS - The Bulldogs were able to hold on as they picked up their first 5A-West win Tuesday night in Siloam Springs.

Caleb Ligon had 12 points and eight rebounds for Greenwood (4-10, 1-3), and Sam Forbus scored 12 points and Evan Bartlett had 11. Braden Stein added eight points along with six rebounds and six blocks for the Bulldogs.

Charleston 64, Booneville 56

BOYS - Braden Ketter and Brandon Scott scored 19 points each as Charleston (5-3, 5-1) edged Booneville (10-2, 4-2) in a 4-3A conference game in Charleston on Tuesday.

Dalton Curtis added 13 points for the Tigers, and Trenton Goodson finished with 10.

Booneville was led by Jacob Herrera with 14 points. CJ Johnson added 11, with Mason Goers and Austin Hill scoring 10 each.

Charleston 50, Booneville 27

GIRLS - Addie Newhart and Rylie Ross scored 12 points apiece and Gracie Koch added nine points and seven rebounds as Charleston (5-5, 4-2 4-3A) got a convincing win over Booneville (9-5, 4-3).

The Lady Tigers shot 52% from the field.

Leigh Swint led the LadyCats with six points.

Waldron 61, Cossatot River 29

BOYS - Gada Wagner scored 14 points and made 7 of 11 shots from the field in the Bulldogs' win on Tuesday night.

Waldron (14-5, 6-1 4-3A), which outscored Cossatot River 19-5 in the first quarter and built a 36-15 halftime lead, got 10 points from Isaac Villarreal, who made two 3-pointers.

Ozark 52, Pottsville 33

GIRLS - Briley Burns scored 32 points as the Lady Hillbillies (13-4, 4-1) rolled to a win on Tuesday.

Burns was 5-for-6 from 3-point range.

Sallisaw 46, Muldrow 45

BOYS - Ty McHenry's layup with 9.8 seconds remaining lifted the Black Diamonds to the road win in NOAA Conference play Tuesday, avenging two defeats to the Bulldogs from earlier this season.

McHenry finished with 22 points.
