NEC Display Solutions Europe has signed an agreement with the Saudi Telecom Company (STC) to install a 256 sq m, 1.5 mm pixel pitch dvLED display, one of the world’s largest LED control room displays, within its main Network Operating Centre. In addition, the agreement includes the installation of 200 video wall displays and smaller LED screens in the SOC at the Unified Network Operation Centre (UNOC) at the STC campus in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. STC is one of the largest telecommunications and digital services providers in the Middle East.

NEC’s comprehensive involvement in the project includes design, manufacture, supply, installation, testing and commissioning of the vast video wall. Working in partnership with Saudi Media Systems, NEC will be responsible for the supply and installation of around 216 video wall units, several meeting room displays, as well as further smaller LED solutions. It will also provide the complete back end processors for the successful functioning of the UNOC.

“Our agreement with STC represents a landmark project that highlights NEC’s status as one of the very few manufacturers in the world that is capable of providing complete custom made display solutions to government entities and major companies. NEC covers the entire aspect of the project, starting from feasibility studies, design and manufacture to installation, testing and commissioning. We select the right display technology and the appropriate back end processing solution for not just network operation centres but also data centres, control rooms and security operation centres,” said Bernd Eberhardt, CEO of NEC Display Solutions GmbH.

“STC is happy to partner with NEC Display Solutions in the provision of a complete turnkey solution for the successful functioning of the UNOC. The agreement reflects STC’s constant efforts to build strategic partnerships with global entities to provide world-class digital services and innovative solutions to our customers, enabling the digital transformation of the Kingdom,” said Abdullah Al Mazrou, GM, Buildings and Fleet Management at STC.

“Our project with STC is typical of many bespoke control room and monitoring systems that we have deployed, where NEC’s uniquely flexible software controller is the linchpin governing any number and variety of NEC displays,” said Stephen Wair, NEC account manager for control room solutions in the UK. “For large, medium or small control room or monitoring applications, NEC is able to offer a complete, tailored solution."
