Early Wednesday Morning Crash Sends Sheldon Woman To Area Hospital

Hospers, Iowa — A Sheldon woman was injured in a 2-vehicle crash early Wednesday morning at Hospers.

According to the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office, the mishap occurred shortly before 6:00 Wednesday morning when a 2016 Chevrolet Impala, driven by 26-year-old Alexandra Fischer of Archer, was westbound on 400th Street. Deputies say Fischer stopped for the stop sign in the median of Highway 60, then pulled into the intersection and collided with a southbound 2019 Kia Forte, driven by 27-year-old Carlee McGuire of Sheldon. Deputies say the impact of the collision sent McGuire’s Kia into the west ditch, where it rolled.

McGuire was transported by the Hospers Ambulance to Orange City Area Health for treatment of her injuries.

Authorities say the Chevrolet sustained approximately $4,000 in damage. The Kia sustained an estimated $8,000 in damage.

Fischer was reportedly cited for failure to obey a stop sign.

The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Hospers Ambulance and Hospers Fire Department.
