Miley Cyrus tells Hilary Duff she auditioned for Hannah Montana 'to copy you no matter what'

She got the best of both worlds.

But on her Instagram Live show Bright Minds, Miley Cyrus, 27, told Hilary Duff, 32, she only bothered auditioning for Hannah Montana 'to copy you no matter what.'

Hilary shot to fame on Lizzie McGuire, which began airing on Disney Channel in 2001 five years before Hannah Montana made its debut on the same network.

'So I wanted to say that I came to your concert when I was 11, and I told you that I wore a plaid skirt and UGGs to the show because you wore a plaid skirt and UGGs, and from the nosebleed seats I was hoping that you would notice me and be like: "Hey, girl, nice UGGs,"' Miley dished.

'I don't know what I was thinking, but I was obsessed with your T-shirt and it was bedazzled and it said Nashville, and I immediately went and bought a bedazzler and I stayed up all night jeweling everything that I owned,' added the Tennessee native.

'And then I flew to LA like almost immediately so I could audition for Disney, and I ended up getting the role, but the only reason I wanted it was so I could do whatever you did,' confessed the ex of Liam Hemsworth.

'And so really I don't even think I gave a s*** about being an actress or a singer. I was just gonna copy you no matter what. So, I just wanna say, you know, thank you again for like just inspiring me and I would never be sitting here and being able to be a light if it wasn't for you and you kind of showing me how to do that.'

Hilary replied that Miley was 'so sweet,' adding that 'I feel like I've known you for such a long time. And just to hear you say that, I mean I feel like you have been such a bright light and you have made so many choices that have been so bold, and you are an inspiration to me and to all of us and you continue to be.'

She added that 'I can't even believe what you're saying to me. It's so sweet and so kind but really I think that, you know, I totally look to you for inspiration on how to be cool and what to wear and what you're doing and all of this s***.'

Miley told Reese Witherspoon on Bright Minds that day that her character's home in Big Little Lies is the same property where her character Hannah Montana lives.

The Wrecking Ball hitmaker shocked the 44-year-old actress with the news during the live webcast of her online Instagram Live chat show titled Bright Minds.

It was a star-studded episode which included four powerful women as guests including Dua Lipa, Hilary Duff, Bebe Rexha and Reese.

Reese's jaw dropped as Miley said: 'I don't know if you knew that Madeline Martha Mackenzie and Hannah Montana lived in the same house maybe even at the same time.

'So there might be a plot here that you actually had a roommate, that you actually live with Hannah Montana.'

The pop singer then showed the Oscar-nominated actress a tweet from user @lanadirty which compared the two homes.

Reese reacted: 'Oh my God, I knew I knew that house from somewhere.'

The Malibu home is a highly popular spot for filming as in addition to those two series other television shows filmed there include: 'Diagnosis Murder, Models Inc. and Columbo.

Miley declared: 'We live in the same house so plot twist Madeline Mackenzie and Hannah Montana are roomies.'

However Reese revealed one benefit of quarantine is that seven-year-old son Tennessee James Toth is so excited to have both his older siblings home all the time.

Dua Lipa was also on the show as she discussed the 'confusing and sometimes unsettling' time she has had promoting her upcoming second album, Future Nostalgia, which has been expedited to release on March 27 instead of the original April 3 date.

She said: 'I was toying with the idea of whether I should push it or release it at a different time.

'I made this record 'cause everyone was like, "Oh, second record, there's so much pressure behind it."

'I felt like a lot was riding on this second record and I didn't want to let the pressure get to me, so I just made a record that just made me want to dance and want to have fun and took my mind away from it.'

She does realize that due to the pandemic it is a gamble putting out new music but decided to take a much more positive approach.

The 24-year-old London native explained: 'I also feel like maybe music is kind of what we need. And it's good to just get people to dance and have fun.'

Miley began the livestreamed chat show on Instagram last week as her previous guests have included Hailey Bieber, Demi Lovato, Amy Schumer, Ellen DeGeneres, and Rita Ora.
