Star Wars 9 Rise of Skywalker LEAK? The truth of Rey’s parentage REVEALED?

WARNING POTENTIAL SPOILERS AHEAD. It’s one of the big unanswered questions of the Star Wars sequel trilogy. Just who are Rey’s parents? Many fans were convinced there was a connection to the Skywalkers, what with Rey wielding Anakin and Luke’s blue lightsaber.

However, come The Last Jedi and Kylo Red told Rey her parents were nobodies.

But surely Ben Solo was lying to manipulate her?

Well, now a new supposed leak from Making Star Wars claims that Rey is in fact related to none other than Emperor Palpatine.

MSW editor Jason Ward said: “She’s a Palpatine by blood. A Skywalker by choice.”

Back in July, Daisy Ridley teased that there’s more than meets the eye to Rey’s parentage.

Speaking with USA Today, the 27-year-old said: “[Director JJ Abrams] did say the question is answered.”

She added: “So at the end of the film, you do know what the dealio is.”

While The Force Awakens star Simon Pegg has previously revealed that JJ Abrams intended for a more traditional route with Rey’s parentage.

Speaking on the Happy Sad Confused podcast last year, he said: “I know what JJ [Abrams] kind of intended, well, at least what was sort of being chucked around. I think that’s kind of been undone slightly by the last one.”

 “There was some talk about, you know, a kind of relevant lineage for her.

“But I honestly don’t know, and I don’t know if anybody knows. We shall see.”

But if she’s related to Palpatine that does explain the Dark Rey we saw in the trailer.

By the looks of it the villain will want to draw his descendant to the Dark Side to rule with or for him.

However, considering the film’s title and the second half of the leak saying that Rey chooses to be a Skywalker, it seems she wants to side with the light.

Let’s not forget that Palpatine created Anakin in the womb of his mother – also from his lineage in one sense – but ultimately Darth Vader was redeemed.
