MUKILTEO — The claustrophobic WesCo South Division race just got a little tighter, courtesy of the Kamiak Knights.



Sean Hermes scored 21 of his game-high 28 in the first half as Kamiak stunned Mountlake Terrace 64-55 last night in a WesCo South boys basketball game.


The upset by the Knights (12-4 overall, 10-4 WesCo South) leaves the Hawks (13-4, 12-2) in a tie for the division lead with Shorewood. Meadowdale is third while Kamiak improved its playoff chances by solidifying its hold on fourth place.



Hermes, a 6-foot senior wing, hit 9 of 13 free throws, and had 14 rebounds, seven steals and five assists. Rahiti Marere scored 17 for Kamiak, which won its fifth straight.


Terrace, which had an eight-game win streak snapped, was led by Adrian Blake’s 19 points, 15 in the second half.

At Mariner 55, Edmonds-Woodway 44



Senior center Tommy Craddock scored a game-high 15 to go with 11 rebounds and four blocks as the Marauders (10-6, 8-6) from Everett won in WesCo South. Aaron Cartwright hit 10 of 11 free throws and scored 12 for the winners, who overcame a 10-4 deficit after one quarter by outscoring E-W 21-6 in the second. Huston Conti led the Warriors (5-13, 4-11) with 16 points.




At Everett 51, Jackson 46


Jared Gans led a balanced offense with 12 points, and Clay Kincaid had 13 rebounds as the Seagulls (9-9, 7-9) won in WesCo South. Brian Rucker’s 16 points led Jackson (4-12, 3-11).





Shorecrest 55, at Lynnwood 50



Paul Bordner scored a game-high 18 as the Scots (4-13, 2-13) beat the Royals (4-14, 4-12) in WesCo South. Mo Carrero and Vince Kinney each scored 12 for Lynnwood.




At Cascade 72, Monroe 51


Sean Carter scored a game-high 18, and the Bruins (10-6, 9-3) took over sole possession of second in WesCo North with a big third quarter. Cascade outscored the Bearcats (8-9, 5-8) 21-9 in the third period.





Marysville-Pilchuck 58, at Arlington 34



Sophomore guard scored Jared Stohl’s 24 points, 13 in the second half, and hit six three-pointers as the Tomahawks (11-6, 10-3) earned their eighth straight win by beating the Eagles (6-10, 4-8). The Tomahawks own a half-game lead over Cascade in WesCo North with three games left. M-P’s Nathan Lozeau scored all 10 of his points in the second half. Paul Swesey scored 11 to lead Arlington (6-10, 4-8).




At Lake Stevens 63, Oak Harbor 37


Sean Tennant, a 6-9 center, had 20 points, 14 rebounds and nine blocks for the Vikings (5-12, 4-9). Josh Rojas added 17 points. Marc Ferguson’s 23 led the Wildcats (0-15, 0-11).





At Stanwood 59, Mount Vernon 56



Daes Kaufman hit two free throws with seconds left, and the Spartans (9-7, 7-5) stayed in the playoff hunt by holding on to upset the Bulldogs (11-5, 9-4). Chris Cayford led Stanwood with 16 points. Justin Burns’ 18 led Mount Vernon.
