WILLIAM "BILL" RAYMOND GRAVATT
North Liberty
William "Bill" Raymond Gravatt, 95, of North Liberty, died Wednesday, Dec. 26, 2018, at Keystone Cedars. Celebration of Life services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, Dec. 28, at Shueyville United Methodist Church in Shueyville, with Pastor Brody Tubaugh presiding. Visitation will be one hour prior to services Friday at the church. Military rites will be conducted. Burial will be in Hammans Cemetery near Drakesville.
William was born April 17, 1923, in Wesco, Mo., the son of William A. and Ava (Roberts) Gravatt. Bill served in the U.S. Army during World War II, stationed in Hawaii and the Island of Saipan. He was united in marriage to Dorthea Lund on Sept. 21, 1946. Bill retired as district sales manager for Skelgas. He enjoyed golfing, hunting, fishing and working his property, as well as spending time with family.
Bill is survived by his sons, Bill (Cyndi) Gravatt of North Liberty and Bruce Gravatt of Coggon; eight grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and his sister, Mary (Cal) McIntosh; as well as nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Dorthea; and his siblings, Blanche Wycoff and Elizabeth Huskey.
