Marc Allan Stringer, 37, of White Hall passed away peacefully with family by his side at Baptist Health-Little Rock on Friday, January 24, 2020. Marc was born September 14, 1982, in Pine Bluff, Ark., to Jackie and Don Stringer. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Louise and Thomas Stringer, and Edgar Marks. Marc was an athlete at heart born with determination. He played basketball and football at White Hall High School, where he was a letterman in both. Marc was awarded All-State in football and basketball. He was also chosen for the Arkansas High School Coaches Association All-Star football team and basketball team. After graduation in 2001, he continued his athletic career at Arkansas Tech University in Russellville, where he played football for four years. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Education from Tech and later received his Master of Science in Educational Leadership from Arkansas State University. Marc began his coaching career in Hamburg. He then coached in Stuttgart, where he was an assistant coach to the State Championship Basketball team of 2009. Marc was presently head basketball coach at White Hall High School. Marc was diagnosed with esophageal cancer on July 1, 2016. It was a battle that he fought with perseverance. Marc continued to coach, and because of this, he was recognized by many for his endurance. Marc won the Norm Stewart Legacy Award in 2018 and received this award at the Coaches vs. Cancer Program in Kansas City, Mo. He also won the Arkansas Basketball Coaches Association PGC Transformational Coach Award. Marc didn't only make an impact on others through his athletic abilities but also the student-athletes he taught. He showed up for them no matter what he was facing with his health. He was instrumental in awarding the Endurance Scholarships that are given to students who are facing cancer within their family. Because of Marc's love for adventure races, he helped create the Endure the Dirt Adventure Race, which is held in Stuttgart every March. Proceeds from this race are donated to the 501c3 Personal Pep Rally that encourages, motivates, and educates cancer patients and their families. Marc has been the driving force for Personal Pep Rallies projects to be developed and become successful. His life will continue to make a difference in the lives of many. Marc is survived by his wife, Lauren Coker Stringer; his parents, Don and Jackie Stringer and his brother Josh Stringer, all of Pine Bluff; his grandmother, Jo Ann Casper of Artesia, N.M.; his mother- and father-in-law, Misti and Jay Coker, sisters-in-law Katie Coker Henderson and Anna Coker, brother- in-law Tyler Henderson and nephews Barrett and Jack Henderson, all of Stuttgart.
