VA Picks Extra Hospital Sites For Late-April Coronavirus Surge
Virginia officials are making plans to increase hospital bed capacity with the expectation that a surge in positive cases of the new coronavirus, or COVID-19, will begin in late April and last through late May, Gov. Ralph Northam said Wednesday at a press briefing.

Liberty University, a private Christian school headed by Jerry Falwell Jr., who came under intense criticism last week for his decision to allow students to return to campus after their spring break, has reported its first new coronavirus case.
Rappahannock Area Health District Reports First Coronavirus Death
The Virginia Department of Health's Rappahannock Area Health District has confirmed its first death from the new coronavirus, or COVID-19 — a resident from Spotsylvania County in his 60s. The results of the man's coronavirus test came back positive Tuesday, two days after he had died at the Spotsylvania Regional Medical Center.
Fairfax Health District Reports 3 More Coronavirus Deaths
On Wednesday, the Fairfax County Health Department reported three additional deaths due to the new coronavirus, or COVID-19. The health district, which includes Fairfax County, Fairfax City and Falls Church, confirmed five total deaths related to COVID-19. The health department also announced 43 new COVID-19 cases, bringing the health district's total to 288 positive cases.
2 New Coronavirus Deaths In DC; 586 Total Positive Cases
The D.C. Health Department confirmed Wednesday two new deaths of District residents resulting from the new coronavirus, also known as COVID-19. This brings the total number of coronavirus deaths in the District to 11.
Alexandria Coronavirus: 44 Cases; Protective Gear Sought
The City of Alexandria has 44 cases of the new coronavirus, or COVID-19, the health department reported late Tuesday. The city is urging residents to follow Virginia's Gov. Ralph Northam's "stay at home" order, except for essential trips like obtaining food or medical care.
