Hunterdon Harmonizers to offer free singing lessons

The Hunterdon Harmonizers, an all-male a cappella singing group, will offer free singing lessons on Tuesday evenings beginning April 30. Called “Ready, Set, Sing” this series of six lessons is open to anyone of high school age and older. The program, which will run until June 4, will be held at the Stangl Pottery Museum, 2 Stangl Road, Flemington. Sessions will begin at 7:30 p.m.

“It is a great opportunity to learn,” said Dennis McKevitt, vice president of membership. The program will motivate singers to sing better and offer information about the benefits of singing and specific training exercises to enhance vocal production, he added. Participants will also gain confidence singing in any venue “and we’ll all learn a new song in four-part a cappella harmony.”

Following each class, participants may remain for a portion of the Harmonizers’ regular rehearsals. Many graduates of past free singing programs have joined the Harmonizers and are now barbershop performers.

With its mission to “connect people and enrich lives through singing,” the Hunterdon Harmonizers actively perform in community and private events throughout Central New Jersey and Pennsylvania, and welcome men of all ages who share a love of music and service.
