Ludhiana: Green Land Senior Secondary Public School, Jalandhar bypass, celebrated Income Tax Day with Anil Dhir, Additional Commissioner of Income Tax, Ludhiana, and his team. A seminar was organised in which Dhir sensitised students about the importance of paying taxes. He also guided and motivated the students to be career oriented. 

Young director workshop 

Ryan International School gave a chance to its students, who want to opt film making as a career, to learn various elements of film making. A young director workshop was conducted on the campus by Darshan from Ryan TV. Students learnt the basics of creative short film making using mobile phones, camera operations, basic animation and story conceptualisation. They also received a media kit which included three lenses, a stylus, a gorilla pod and course handbook for assistance.

Plantation drive organised

Green Land Convent School, Chandigarh Road, organised a tree plantation drive on the campus to make students aware of the issue of global warming. About 100 saplings were planted by the students of Class I to VIII.

Tagore Public School

Students of Tagore Public School planted saplings in and around the campus to make environment clean and green. Placards with thought-provoking quotes, enthusiastic involvement of students, participation of teachers and planting a variety of saplings made the day memorable.  

SDP Senior Secondary School

World Environment Week was celebrated at SDP Senior Secondary School, Hazuri Road. The NCC cadets and NSS volunteers of the school planted saplings to increase the beauty of the campus and maintain greenery. NSS Officer Neena Sharma and NCC Officer Kulbir Singh encouraged students to plant more trees.

Guru Nanak Public School

To aware students about the importance of planting trees and their role in reducing global warming, a tree plantation drives was organised by the Income Tax Department, Ludhiana, and NCC cadets to create widespread tax awareness among citizens on the campus of Guru Nanak Public School, Mullanpur. The plantation drive was followed by the Swacch Bharat Swacch Dhan programme. Inspector from the Income Tax Department, KK Verma, delivered a lecture to senior students to create awareness about taxes and trees. 

Balloon party organised

Darshan Academy organised a colours-cum-balloon party for pre-primary wing. The aim of the party was to teach students the importance of colours in life. The entire wing was divided into six-coloured categories. Kids were also sensitised about the use of paper bags. Principal Rajdeep Kaur Aulakh blessed the tiny tots. 

Seminar on thalassaemia

To create awareness about thalassaemia among its students, BVM, Udham Singh Nagar, conducted a seminar on thalassemia. Rajesh Kapoor, founder and president of NGO Zindagi Live Foundation, was the resource person of the seminar. He acquainted students about thalassaemia. He told students that the disease could be eradicated by going through an HBA2 test. Principal Bandana Sethi applauded the efforts of the team of Zindagi Live and urged students to disseminate this information among their family members. TNS

Poem recitation competition 

BCM Kindergarten, Basant Vihar, organised a recitation competition for the tiny tots to provide them an opportunity to exhibit their talent through poems. Students chose from a variety of themes to recite poems. They presented their poems using props. Principal Vandna Shahi said such activities gave a platform to kids to show their talent. It helped them to gain confidence. 

Session on traffic awareness

Sacred Heart Convent School, Sarabha Nagar, conducted an interactive session on traffic awareness for the students of Class XI and XII. DSP Rajan Sharma was the resource person for the seminar. He encouraged students to be the harbingers of change. He answered their queries of students and laid stress on the need to fight against malpractices. Students were motivated to take up cycling as a step towards improving the situation of traffic in the city.

Quiz competition

Guru Nanak International Public School, Model Town, conducted a quiz competition for Class VI to VIII to mark the 550th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev. Students were asked questions on the teachings and life of Guru Nanak Dev. Principal Gurmant Kaur Gill congratulated the winners.

DCM MUN best delegate

Harmanjeet Singh of USPC Jain Public School, Chandigarh Road, was awarded the title of the Best Delegate at a Model United Nations (MUN) held at DCM Presidency School. More than 250 students participated from across Punjab. Five students from USPC Jain Public School had participated under two committees—United Nations Human Resource Committee and United Nations General Assembly. TNS
