UPDATE: The two people found dead have been identified.

Previous story:

Two people were found dead at a home in Dandridge on Tuesday afternoon after deputies with the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office responded to a call on Oak Grove Road.

Deputies responded to a potential domestic violence call at around 1:30 p.m., Jefferson County Sheriff Jeff Coffey said. When the first deputy arrived on the scene, a child ran out of the house to meet him, and a man inside the house said someone had been shot.

The deputy took the child to his vehicle for safety until other deputies could arrive on the scene, at which point several attempts were made to contact the people inside the house. The Jefferson City Police Department eventually came to help JCSO and, at around 4:30 p.m. made entry into the house, where they found the two dead individuals, according to Coffey.

JCSO has not released any information about the child or the two people found dead in the home. Coffey said there was no threat to the public and an investigation is underway.
