2 Teens Injured In Montco School Playground Stabbing

Two teenagers were stabbed behind an elementary school during the incident, police said. An investigation remains underway.

HATFIELD, PA — Two teenagers were stabbed behind a Montgomery County elementary school on Monday evening, and one minor is in custody, police said.

The incident occurred at around 5:20 p.m. on 500 Squirrel Lane, near Oak Park Elementary School.

A 911 call reported the stabbing incident, which occurred in the rear of the school, police said. It remains unclear what led to the violence.

When police arrived on the scene, the two victims, both in their teens, were found rear of the playground area suffering from multiple stab wounds, according to authorities.

Both were transported by Volunteer Medical Service Corps to Lehigh Valley Hospital for treatment.

Another teenager, who police said committed the attack, was taken into custody shortly after the incident. There is no threat to the community.

It's the second major incident of teenage violence in the county over the past few days. Four people were injured and one killed during a shooting following an altercation at an East Norriton bowling alley Saturday night.

An investigation into the stabbings is ongoing.
