ALAMEDA COUNTY, Calif. (KRON) – California’s limited curfew is officially in effect for all counties in the purple tier — which is most of them.

Gov. Gavin Newsom announced the curfew that will go into effect from 10 p.m. until 5 a.m. every night.

People have mixed feelings on the order including state representatives. Local congresswoman Barbara Lee who represents several cities in Alameda County tweeted yesterday.

Here is what you need to know:

  • All non-essential activities banned 10 p.m. – 5 a.m. daily
  • Takeout allowed after 10 p.m.
  • Going for a walk, routine activities allowed
  • Essential businesses will be allowed to remain open
  • Order to expire at 5 a.m. on December 21st

The curfew covers 94% of the state’s nearly 40 million residents.

As the days go on we will get a closure idea on how they are enforcing this. And if other counties like San Francisco will be joining the curfew.

“ I think it’s a great thing that the government is trying to take things seriously, just imagine if Richmond Virginia was just whipped off the Map in a day that’s the same things, but people are still walking around with no masks having big parties like not taking this seriously at all and I feel like any messer that helps people realize this is a big deal this is not a minor thing it’s just going to go away tomorrow, is going to be a good measure to do,” said Alameda County resident Rowan Shepherd.
