A bluebird day in Denver changed quickly Saturday afternoon, as bright sunshine gave way to a torrent of quarter-sized hail and severe thunderstorms.
The hail, one inch in diameter, pelted streets, parks and cars, accumulating 2-3 inches deep in some places.
The National Weather Service issued a severe thunderstorm warnings for Arapahoe County until 3:30 p.m. Forecasters said the storm is moving quickly and will pass through Denver rapidly on its way east.
For those on the eastern plains, the NWS recommends moving indoors or seeking covered shelter when the storm approaches.
Metro residents took to Twitter on Saturday, ogling at the hail’s size and scope.
