Coronavirus 'Clusters Of Concern' Form As MD Stays Home: Patch PM
Hours before a statewide stay-at-home order took effect at 8 p.m. Monday in Maryland, state officials explained why it was necessary.
"I want to tell you right now that there are some very sick people here in Maryland," Deputy Health Secretary Fran Phillips said at a news conference at the State House.
"Today we had 67 new hospitalizations in the last 24 hours [due to the new coronavirus]," Phillips said. "We have a deadly outbreak in Carroll County, and we know that there are clusters of concern under investigation around the state."
Nursing homes, detention centers and others were among areas Gov. Larry Hogan said were of concern. "There are literally thousands of facilities we’re concerned about in the state of Maryland," Hogan said.
