Supatha Yoga in Frenchtown hosts Project Happiness mini workshop

On Friday, March 15, from 6:30-9 p.m., the Healing Loft at Supatha Yoga will host a Project Happiness mini workshop at 205 Harrison Street, Frenchtown.

Project Happiness is a nonprofit organization dedicated to “inspiring and empowering people with resources to create greater happiness within themselves and the world.” The organization began as a film project produced by Randy Taran, a mother of two who was inspired to help her own children deal with depression. The film documents a group of young people who interview director George Lucas, actor Richard Gere, and neuroscientist Richard Davidson on the nature of happiness. Later they travel to India for a private audience with the Dalai Lama.

Shortly after the film was completed, Taran founded Project Happiness to help continue the journey of the film’s participants and to make happiness available to all. Since then, the film has been translated into seven different languages and the corresponding handbook has been turned into a school curriculum being taught in over 55 countries. The Project Happiness film has been honored at more than 25 film festivals and has won awards both in the United States and abroad.

Project Happiness comes to Frenchtown in the form of a film screening at 6:30 p.m. followed by a group discussion led by Supatha Yoga owner, Sri Lakshmi Devi, and Katie Bergacs, clinical social worker. The goal of the workshop is for attendees to discover the path to happiness, as it is different for everyone. They will also learn techniques to make life more meaningful. Attendance is free and is limited to individuals aged 13 and up. Donations are encouraged and advance reservations are required.
