Veronica 'Bonnie' M. Prather

MASON CITY - Veronica “Bonnie” M. Prather, 87, of Mason City, died Tuesday (May 7, 2019) at the Muse Norris Inpatient Unit- Hospice of North Iowa in Mason City.
A memorial service will be held 10:30am Thursday (May 16, 2019) at Hogan-Bremer-Moore Colonial Chapel, 126 3rd St. NE, Mason City with Reverend Kenneth Gehling officiating. Inurnment will be in Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery.
A gathering of family and friends will be held from 5pm to 7pm on Wednesday (May 15, 2019) at the funeral chapel and will continue one hour prior to the memorial service.
Bonnie was born on October 16, 1931 in Varina Dover Township, daughter of Arthur and Martha (Fex) Lichter.
She married Jack Prather on December 27, 1954 at the St. Cloumbkille Church in Varina, Iowa.
Jack was stationed at the Mountain Home, Idaho Airforce Base until he was honorably discharged. The couple then moved to Mason City, Iowa where the couple spent the rest of their lives. Bonnie enjoyed raising her children until Jane turned 16. She then enjoyed working until she retired. After which, she began working with the Grandparents program. She also enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.
In her later years, Bonnie enjoyed reading, and spending time with her cats. She moved to Cornerstone Assisted Living and enjoyed her time there until she moved over to Good Shepherd. Good Shepherd took great care of her and made her last year comfortable.
Bonnie is survived by her daughter, Kathy Bledsoe, son Michael (Candy) Prather, and daughter Susan (Mark) Janssen; grandchildren, Jessica (Mitch) Wayne, Jennifer (Kurt) Walker, Amy (Derek) Pike, John Janssen, Billie Sue Query (Richard), Nicholas Query; great-grandchildren, Shayla McChesney (Jordan Hall), Maddison McChesney, MaKenna Wayne, Harrison Walker, Trista, Henry, and Logan Pike, Jaden, Kailey and Gavin Puentes; great-great-grandchildren, Eli and Noelle Hall; her brother, Bud (Sandra) Lichter; sisters-in-law, Joan Lichter and Joan Lichter, as well as many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Jack, her parents, two children, Howard and Jane, a grandson, Brandon, a sister, Genevieve, a brother, Joe, her son-in-law Steve and may other loved ones.
