Actress Madhoo who is popularly known for her role in Roja will next be seen essaying the role of V.N Janaki in Kangana Ranaut starrer Thalaivi. Janaki is the wife of actor-turned-politician MGR. Director Vijay, while talking to a daily said that he initially wanted to cast Madhoo for the role of Sandhya, J Jayalalithaa's mother, but changed his mind after he met the actress.
Recently, there were reports that Priya Mani will be roped in to play the role of Sasikala, a close aid of Jayalalithaa. However, now actress Poorna has been roped in to play the role. Vijay said that they had date problems with Priya Mani and Poorna was their next option. He said that after doing the makeup test with Poorna she seemed perfect for the role.
Madhoo and Poorna have already started shooting for the film. The team is currently shooting in Chennai and the schedule will go on till March.
Meanwhile, Kangana Ranaut recently unveiled the second look of the film which has the actress draped in a white saree with her hair tied in a bun and a red dot of vermilion paste applied on her forehead.
