New and interesting innovations were showcased in Jackson today at a home show, including ways to better protect your house from rough Mississippi weather.

Among the many vendors offering latest innovations in home-care and remodeling, was Leaf Filter Gutter Protection, who shows us self-cleaning rain gutters and also Watkins Construction and Roofing, who says there is now a way to keep your roof safe from damaging hail and constant algae.

Heather Alriech of Leaf Filter Gutter Protection said their display was “showing how our leaf filter gutter protection keeps all the debris out of gutters.”

“The screen is surgical grade. It’s the same kind material a cardiologist would use in a heart stint. Doctors use it because it’s non-corrosive, but more importantly, nothing sticks to it.”

Cecil Brunson of Watkins Construction and Roofing said “things that are really new and exciting in the roofing industry; one in particular, we have hail-resistant shingles, because the amount of storms going through, a lot of people have had a lot claims from all these and in addition to that, the deductibles seem to be going up on their insurance policies. So, it’s a wonderful opportunity if you’re looking to replace your roof. Another thing is algae resistant shingles- In Mississippi in particular, we get a lot of algae on our roofs.”

The home show happened at Trademart Center.

Vendors traveled far and wide, from Arkansas and other surrounding states to show Mississippians latest home trends.
